Thanks to $200,000 grand donation to Western Charlotte highs school in North Carolina state, the football stadium will receive their artificial grass to install on their field. The donation will give Charlotte a big dose of self-confidence to improve student academic performance.

According to the director of Project LIFT, installing artificial grass will give kids something they can be proud of on the game day. The gift comes through the school and the NFL Foundation Grassroots Program, which is distributing $2.5 million across the nation this year to refurbish athletic fields. The director of Charlotte community relations said that this project will help transform and bring the community together. The High School and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools said the donation also benefits Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation as the improved stadium also will be used by recreational-level athletic programs in northwest Charlotte.

Many residents and parents think that the project is a gift to the entire community because while the artificial turf field wound not have a direct impact on test scores or graduation rates, it has a positive outcome. Seven other high schools - Ardrey Kell, Garinger, Hough, Mallard Creek, Olympic, Rocky River and West Mecklenburg - have turf fields.
