I will just go with the regular sand. My neighbor used just that, very cheap, and their lawn looks just fine.
I don't think how permeable the turf is as I live in LA, not much rain anyway.
I searched up the internet, and can't find any thing about artificial grass being toxic.
I won't even try to do the turf installation by myself.
I have seen some artificial turf installations on a slope in my community, and I live in San Diego.
